I also think you need to use the mysql_free_result like so..
echo '<select name="store_mar">';
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result))
{
echo '<option value="' . $row['mar_id'] . '">' .
$row['mar_name'] . '</option>';
mysql_free_result($result);
}
echo '</select><br /><br />';
