$this is normally used in object oriented programming to signify the 
current object. That may be causing the trouble. I'd use another 
variable than $this.

Tried that, doesn't work with:

$query="INSERT INTO ReplyTbl VALUES ('" . $monster1 . "', '" . $monster2 .
"', '" . $monster3 . "', NULL, NULL)";

Don't suppose they use 'monster' as a reserved word...

but the similar code works in another file.
