Keeping a db query string in sequentially accessed pages

PHP¹ers,

I am setting up a PHP interface for a database that will allow users to
select data cells and then choose to either view, edit or download the data.
Once an option is made (e.g. View data) a function will create the query
string and then another function will query and post the data. I would like
to offer the same three options at the bottom of the page; for example, if a
user views the data I would like to allow the user to then choose to either
view again (not much point here), edit or download the data for the same
query. My question is what is the best way to keep tract of the query
string. I am using sessions so I could register the query or I suppose I
could set it as a post variable. Any opinions or alternatives I have not
thought of?

Thanks, Jason
