Apache, PHP, Oracle & Persistant connection

I've made several tests with ociplogon, and I found that sometimes it works : no new connection made; and sometimes it doesn't work because of new connection over 
the one already open.

Is somebody get ociplogon working with apache 1.3 or 2.O (forked), php 4.2.1 or php 4.3.1 ?

To make these tests, I used
Oracle 9.0.1
apache 2.0 + PHP 4.3.1
apache 1.3 + 4.2.1
All on Debian 3.0
