The problem is that you're fetching a single row and then print out the
result, whereas Mysql returns a row for each field.
Try something like this:
mysql_select_db("filterseveuk") or die(mysql_error());
$query = "SHOW COLUMNS FROM " .$table. "";
$result = mysql_query ( $query ) or die( mysql_error () );
while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc ($result))
echo $row['Field'];
This loops through each row in the result set and prints out the value
of the field called "Field", which actually contains the name of the
field in the table.
