Re: Manuel Lemos's Pop3 Class

Hey Rob,

thanks for the link.. there are some issues mentioned that
I should consider. The amount of data to be stored might
grow to about 1gb per user.. so it would be good to have
an easy way to store data on different servers. In the end I
guess it doesn't really matter, because both ways can be
developed reliable and secure. In terms of speed I assume
that it is quicker to access a file directly on the file system
then fetching the data from a large table. So I probably go
with the file system and db mesh up.

Thanks, Max

Max, there's probably not much difference in storing the file in either

method, as far as the amount of work goes.

There may be other implications, such as security. Please have a look at this

recent thread, which should help you make your mind up :-

I am developing a web mail client, with flex

front end and PHP back end. I will most probably

download them all cause it seems to be much easier

to handle all the data. I am just unsure whether to

store the whole mail in db or save them as .eml

files. I reckon that it would be really handy to save

them as eml files and only store the details like

subject, sender, recipient, data... in a db.

What do you think?

Greets, Max
