Robert, thanks for pointing that out but I am awared of the '.' and '..' notation since I have been working in the Unix/Solaris/Linux world for over 15 years. My questions was more in the line of WHY does the $path displays the directory name where the include php file is located instead of the directory name of the file that is doing the call to the INCLUDE statement.
