Personally I preferred PHPEclispe to PDT when it was available, but nowadays about the only code I don't manage via eclipse is Java, and I have a paid for package called BeyondCompare which is a nice addition particularly for PHP as I can keep zip copies of what is distributed on the servers and remotely monitor the live code via sftp. Useful for keeping control of those little on-line hacks after a client says 'can you just' ...
