The ''situation" is when a hard link name without a .php suffix is to
a php script file that is recognized by .php suffix. 

In response to Jigar Dhulla;

I am aware of Apache httpd.conf and the lines that tell it what suffixes to 
recognize as php scripts. I am doing this development work on Apache
running on Mac OSX Yosemite.
