Blocking socket read difference between Ubuntu and OSX

Hi

When the process receives a signal, OSX remains blocked during the 
entire specified timeout, whereas Ubuntu immediately aborts the read and 
issues a

PHP Warning:  socket_recvfrom(): unable to recvfrom [4]: Interrupted 
system call
-------------

Can anyone please explain the reason behind these differences?
