I want to use the computer, not have to waste my time compiling crap, figuring out dependencies, whatever. It recognized all of my hardware and was a breeze to set up. So far I've been able to do everything with it that I've need to as far as lamp development goes. Setting it up as a dev box is really easy too with apt-get.
