One other thought. If you are getting a blank page with no errors or out put at all, I've noticed that I somtimes have to get the page to load successfully before the web server will dish out the error. What I normally do is upload a blank php page with the same name as the one I am working on, load it up, and then upload the page with all the code and refresh.
