Not sure if it will solve your thrashing issue, but then again... I'm not sure how or why a browser would cause your HDD to thrash in the first place. Got a lot of questionable videos open in several tabs, eh? ;) I've had Firefox thrash sometimes when it's loading lots of Applets and Flash objects, etc., though, so I guess I can understand.
