I am working on a script that will take a few folders, copy them to a temp location, and then create a zipfile. The problem i'm running into is that some of these zips are upwards of 300mb, and when I use exec to execute the zip function, or use the ZipArchive extension, the php memory usages increases - close to 300mb. Is there any way to get around this spike of memory usage from within php? Or is there a better way alltogether to handle this? I'm open to suggestions!
