A TAB is a TAB.

It is not 2 spaces, nor is it 4.

If whatever you are using to view the files is mis-translating the TAB
in an unpredictable fashion, we can't fix that.

Choose an editor that knows what TAB is.

The browser "View Source", if that is what you are using, may do a
complete re-write and "pretty print" (by its own stupid rules) of your
HTML, depending on what browser and/or plug-ins to that browser you
have.

In other words, PHP just sends out a TAB character -- It's up to you
and your viewer to do the right thing with that TAB character.
