That's a good point, then all I would have to do is to change the resultant mp3 file to a wav file. However, I'm not aware of how to do that using php. I would hope it's as easy as changing a jpg to a gif file, but I have never done a mp3 to a wav conversion before. I'll investigate that.

you could look at lame? and you will have to call it from php using exec() or shell_exec()
