Multiply by 2, round to 1000, divide by 2. Maybe there's an easier way, 
but that's what I use.

600*2 = 1200, round(1200,-3) = 1000, 1000/2 = 500
800*2 = 1600, round(1600,-3) = 2000, 2000/2 = 1000
