Another thing to remember is that you dont want to get overwhelmed with all the work when you are going to build your own, a list of 250,000 features will never get done, many have tried, many have failed, so plan what you need to start with and build the other features later. I believe you can find those out there as well, most of what you need will be available out there, you will be able to find them and then take what you need to work it into your cart, probably would be a good idea to think of all the different pieces and then find the different examples/tutorials/snippets and then see how they fit.
