I use document.getElementById().value.
The only change that would need to be made with the input example is add
an id="list['.$x.']"

I don't remember exactaly what I had to do, but I remember quoting it 
somehow made it work with JS.  Something like...

document.formname.elements['list37[]']

I *think*.
