Please do tell how you even got it working..

% cd php44/ext/mysqli
php44/ext/mysqli: No such file or directory.
% cd pecl/mysqli
pecl/mysqli: No such file or directory.

The only thing I can think that perhaps might be done is:

% cd php5x/ext/mysqli
% phpize  #php4 version of phpize
% ./configure --with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/
% make
