One of the big arguments for PHP being ready for the enterprise is that, hey, Yahoo uses it! But it's more the reason why Yahoo uses it. Part of the reason is that PHP is scalable because of it's a shared nothing architecture, so you can scale it horizontally just about indefinitely. Plus it's a lot easier to develop in than Java or C++.
