Good point, I suspect much of the desirability of having PHP on the client, is it seems almost cruel and unusual punishment to have to learn how to use a screwdriver, after having spent valuable time learning all about a hammer. I wonder if I would have been so enthusiastic about learning and using PHP if I had known in the beginning that I'd need to learn JavaScript as well.
