On Mac OS X, I have two directories: /Documents /Databases When I use the file_exists() function, it fails to find files in my Documents directory, but works fine in Databases (and others). Both reside in the same parent folder. I've tried it with several different files in each directory. Nothing in Documents will report that it exists. Protection on the two directories is identical.
