Apache and PHP gives HTTP 403

I have finally managed to have Apache 2.2.4 , PHP 5.2.0 and MySQL to talk to 
each other, I thought. It seems that they talk OK to the database. As soon 
as I make a php-script that contains PHP_SELF the browser eill throw me away 
and says HTTP 403.
Any ideas or solution are very much appreciated.
