unfortunately, they are too big (and very old) for that, which is why I've been using a copy set up with lights and camera.

Surely PS must have something which will convert a selection into straight lines? Or align a selection with a rectangular marquee?

I haven’t checked for sure but I think I get 600 DPI directly in whatever size the image is. 

The platform is about 16x20 inches or so.

Hi folks,

 

I have a question, and wondered if any of you may have an answer;

 

I've been photographing some paintings, bound in large leather volumes.

The volumes are thick, so that some of the paintings don't sit flat -

there is curvature along the long and short edges. So, question is, is

there a simple way to correct the page distortion back into the

rectangle that it should be...?

 

I've tried selecting the paintings, and using all the various transform

tools in Photoshop, but there are still curves and bends which I can't

straighten out. Even had a go with puppet warp, with some limited

success, but still ends up with wavy lines, not straight edges.

 

With all the amazing tools PS has I find it kind of hard to believe that

there isn't an easy way to select a shape and transform it into a

rectangle...or just turn a bent edge into a straight one?

 

All suggestions welcome. Thanks
