Good stuff!! I must plead guilty to sometimes not downsizing an image and linking to the larger version in some (a VERY few) of the articles and such I've posted. I realize whereof you speak!! The ALT function is another "touchy" one! :)

So should the PF gallery "accept" larger files as it seems that many or maybe most viewers have 100 ppi monitors?

Years ago in the days of 72dpi I built a Photoshop action to resize from tif to 4”x6”x 72dpi.  Now that monitors are generally coming in around 100dpi or so, I’ve adjusted my action to 5x7.5x100.  That’s 500x750 dpi.  It fits nearly exactly in the little window that FB provides and that might reflect some effort at standardization on Zuckerberg’s part, perhaps in cohoots with other such services.

For the forum I remain of the opinion that 500 pixels ought to be enough in the smaller dimension, whether square, pano or any other ratio.  The size fits the screen of my 15” laptop comfortably as well, allowing space for text and such at the bottom of the enlargment window as well.
