Tina,

Good point.

I had an Epson 3800 that had to be replaced, under warranty, five times. Each time it came with a new set of inks. It was a major pain in the neck to discover it’d gone down but what I saved in inks was worth it.

I now have the 3880 and have had no problems. Of course I do have to buy ink now!

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new machine that comes with ink, rather replace all of the inks!  They sell the machines at a loss and make their money on the inks.

The drawback of Epson is that you can not change print head.
You have to replace all the machine.

I go months on my PIXMA without printing, used to print a half a dozen pages a month but since I retired it has gone down, The Canons have a changeable print head, at least the ones I've had did, if changing the cartridges does not help as Canon if the hgead might need changing, Bob.

My Canon printer has clogged jets … presumably I can try to clean or buy new head … but frustrated with the Canon and got an Epson but heads are not replaceable.
So question is: how do you make sure your jets don’t clog when the printer is not used for a long time??
