I have an accurized Government Model Mini 14 in 5.56. It's
significantly more accurate than the AR-15 platform, but I'd
rather have my Garand when hunting wild pigs.

It would not and it was not banned. Some types
with some mods where banned. The ar-15 was limited to 20
rounds and was purchasable. A winchester 7400 .308 deer
rifle is WAY WAY WAY more deadly then an ar15. A varmint
rifle with the .243 round is more deadly.

It would definitely reduce the number of people
killed if this weapon is banned. There is no way to
stop these attacks. So limit the number of dead.
Nobody needs an assault weapon, the
only purpose of which is to kill people. Australia
banned them after their mass killing and the ban is
working.

Unfortunately, the Port Arthur massacre
is no longer one of the deadliest shootings
worldwide committed by a single person. That
record has been broken.
