As for conservation, well museum pretty much have it covered it's always progressing. Its never perfect because nothing is. Here you can take a class at Eastman house.

Here is SI's Digital specification page. This feels outdated as it would limit HDR images and with HDR displays actually for sale now at the developer level they would probably evaluate changing the spec unless 8 bit is only used at a minimum and 32bit floating point images are acceptable. (tiff supports 32bit float)
