I’ve been photographing “WW2 British Coastal Defenses” for about 15 years, and most were not methodically laid out but rather applied to the seacoast haphazardly other than a few spots like the 2000 5’ concrete cube tank traps near Holy Island. These are clearly visible on Google Earth. I think structures like Calshot Castle down near the mouth of the Solent and Granite Castle on the Isle of Wight provide psychological help even though neither was built as recently as 1900. Most of the hardened fortifications have been destroyed by now, so there is little if anything to shoot. MoD got busy right after WW2 to start destroying bunkers, and their employees are if nothing else, professionals.
