Oh great, thanks Andy for reminding me 20 years have passed in my life since Russ Krause told my M&P class about this new list and to sign up.  Wow. Im going to have to start going to that bar with the waitress with you guys.  Ok just an excuse to see the waitress.

Andy, I was starting to think you were contemplating shutting PhotoForum down to avoid a further whitening of your beard, and I was greatly relieved to read that despite recurring difficulties you'll continue.   Whew!   I don't want to even think of this great list being shut down.   After about ten years here, it feels like a home.

Dear PhotoForum list members,

I was contemplating the passage of time today. This list has been operating for about 20 years - can’t remember the exact start date.
It has been a bumpy road over the years. I hope the time spent on looking after it has been of of use to you all. While its underlying PR purpose was to raise awareness of RIT that never really worked out. So it became my personal project to try to be of service to photographers near and far.

I must admit that there have been many stressful times over the years. I think they are responsible for at least a few white hairs on my head or beard. Maybe also in yours! The gallery is a couple of years younger and it took up Friday night or Saturday morning time getting the “show” together. 18 years of Saturday mornings. The expectation was that it would be a useful adjunct to the list chatter.

I think “social media” and the explosion of the Internet since 1994 or so has provided other avenues for communication and exchange. This has probably made PhotoForum less relevant I am sure. However, with your cooperation, collaboration and contributions I hope we can keep this activity going for as long as it serves a useful purpose.
