Too bad neither of you can converse with Dick Avedon. This is pretty much as shot, not shopped, although there may be some potassium ferricyanide work to lighten the background. Do either of you know who this model was? Probably not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marella_Agnelli

I’ve seen this print, and well yes, it was shot in 1953, when Avedon was about 30, and Thomas Knoll had not yet been born. My favorite model from the 1930’s to 1950’s was Lisa Fonssagrives, who by coincidence was married to Irving Penn.
