I am no Photoshop expert but maybe you can look at the channel you want to eliminate and as you are doing this select it and use EDIT to cut it … this should effectively remove the info in that channel. Then you
go back to the RGB version which this time will lack the channel you eliminated. Then you convert this to B&W and adjust to suit.
