Yea I know, and I wouldn't call her a friend, but I empathize with the bride and am trying to help her as much as the photographer. I think we all have been in over our heads at one point or another. Yet I didn't even try to talk her out of it. She had already accepted the gig, and nothing I could have said would have changed that. I could be wrong, but she wouldn't be using a kit lens if she were ready. It's one thing to rent that 400 2.8L IS that you use 3 times a year.
The only thing I disagree with you on Bob is the retakes. Yes it can be retaken. All the flowers can be rebought. All the guests can be flown back in for the new day. The dresses and make up artists for the bride and bridesmaids can be rehired, and the tux's be re rented. Trouble is the bill for the retake is the photographers not the father of the brides. One reason I won't do a wedding

I don't know of any on line rental outfits. I just have a comment: If your friend is getting paid for this I wish her luck. There are no retakes with this type of ceremony..... My wife watches judge shows on TV and while some of the "my wedding was ruined by the photographer" cases are frivolous, some are not......

At least she is smart enough to know the kit lens that came with the Rebel isn't up to the task I haven't rented from the online sites so if anyone has any places which they have been treated well I am sure the bride will appreciate it. With the right lens, and automation, maybe the bride will get what she likes. There is a reason I don't take weddings.
