RE: signature ink/pencil ?

I was taught to sign in pencil. Until recently I had photos taken of me as a
baby by a local photographer in Wimbledon that were signed in pencil and the
inscription is visible and the print is still good.

Subject: signature ink/pencil ?

I have been signing my prints in pencil, and the prints are behind
glass.

But I now have to send some prints, and am worried about smudging the
signature. I know an inked signature won't smudge, but will it
compromise the archival property?

What do others do?
