Pini Vollach - Namibia   A great view of a desolate landscape.  Looks like tracks of off-road vehicles in the foreground.   It must have been great up there in the plane or helicopter, clicking away, knowing you got good stuff.

Dan Mitchell - Lace-wing fly    Good closeup, sharp focus, blurred background.  It works!

Emily L. Ferguson - Willet   The bird is positioned perfectly above the surf, which gives a great sense of both wildlife and the sea.   Excellent shot.

Michael Hughes – How do you do?    Hard to make out the dog's face, and the child's clothing is overexposed.  Better to have taken the shot about a stop or two down, then dodged to get the dog's features more clearly.

Christopher Strevens - Dinner in the care home   Very melancholy scene, at least from the perspective of one who is not yet ready to be put into an old folks home.  We tend to shy away from reminders of what awaits us all, sooner or later.

Trevor Cunningham - light at the fringe of approaching darkness   The great thing about visual metaphors is they can be read a multitude of ways.   I see Kafka's Gregor Samsa looking into the mirror.

Andrew Davidhazy - Bottoms up!  Nothing like a bright sunny Saturday morning, looking up the arses of Canada Geese!   You do have a sense of humor, Andy!
