Photoshop does the same thing with RAW. I stopped shooting RAW+JPEG and
produce the scheme I want in post prod. I use LR mostly, unless it's an
infrared shot. It might seem like extra work, especially if you're
preparing a large number of images, but I think it gives you greater
control to go from the basic capture. Personally, I'd hate to have to
undo a camera's interpretation of an image if it doesn't look right. I'd
rather create the image I want and maintain the potential to do other
things with the original.

Hello,
I have a question about lightroom. When I shoot RAW files lightroom
doesn't show the pictures in the colour profile I shot them in. For
example, if I shoot in 'vivid colour' mode, or Black and white,
lightroom won't remember that's how they were shot...they look very
flat and dull. If I put them into my Nikon software (which is slow and
fairly useless) there is no problem.
Is there a way to make lightroom recognise the original camera
settings? I can't seem to get them to look like they did on the back
of the camera, no matter how much I play with the levels/saturation
etc etc.
Cheers,
Jonathan.
