A black and white conversion will leave you with light gray hair
where the hair is highlighted, medium gray for the middle of the hair and the
hair in shadows will approach black. Then you have to erase all the rest of the
B&W layer. I don't think the results will look what she wants. It can be
done by color range and other selection methods as I think Karl
mentioned but it will be tedious and long. I suggest you just get another
girl friend with black hair.or hire a painter that does painting from a
photograph.
