Yes, it would work. Unless you've cleverly replaced the peephole with
a digital camera and can see out via the screen on the back. Or
you've blocked the peephole with a shutter or a piece of tape. Or
you've hung a photograph of a snarling dog behind it. Or you've put
up a TV screen showing a continuous loop of a blazing inferno. Or...
