Yay! (Except for the jet lag)
Could not make the exhibition 'cos I wasn't where I live.
2 months driving through the US West Coast from Southern NM to San Francisco and a return flight to Portland Oregon
2500 miles in all and mostly without a camera. From time to time I borrowed Anna's (My wife)
Memorable moments:
- A truly an amazing visit to Rochester New York where I and my daughter Aria were treated to the incredible hospitality of Professor Andy Davidhazy of this list.
- An in-depth walking tour of RIT's photographic school. A mind expansion.
- A quiet and regenerative 2
weeks in Toronto Canada
- Standing in Hernandez NM where Adams' "Moon Rise" was shot
- Holding and examining original Eugene Smith and Ansel Adams prints (Mounted but unframed) (Andrew Smith Galleries, Santa Fe)
- Santa Fe where there are so many amazing galleries and so much original work
- Santa Fe and Abiquiu skies. More sky than land...
- Staying at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu NM where Georgia O'keeffe spent so much time and seeing the places she painted - also indulging in the huge library of photography books there, which is open 24/7
- The Georgia O'Keeffe houses
- The desert museum at Tucson AZ
- The Center for Creative Photography At The University of Arizona in Tucson.. another AMAZING library
- Sea World in San Diego
- San Diego Zoo.... Unbelievable
- Staying with a 93 year old lady in Laguna Beach CA who still drives to work and is as sharp as a razor. She still wears shorts and goes walking.
- Venice Beach CA... wow... Makes me want to drop out, light up and join the hippies on the beach. Throw the cameras, lights etc in the sea. There's a wild hippie in the depths of me...
- Professor Gene Poschman and Annie Mester of UC Berkeley who made thier house in the Berkeley hills our home for 2 weeks. Wall to wall and floor to ceiling -books and an old Nikon F system which he donated to my cause
- Calumet store in San Francisco
- The beauty of Oregon and the delightful Portland and Salem
- New York NY
- B&H photo.. in the flesh. What a store!
