Interesting reading but...
The phoniness of those rockets shot off the page!  Every photograph in
ANY media is an "illustration" of the text. Should photos be labeld
with: Truthiness Warning!-  Sub text being, "Sorry you're so dumb
reader." 

The business about the brain having to radically reduce the data to a
manageable quantity is not news to artists or photographers or editors. 
Try and think of ANY published image that has not been touched by
PhotoShop. The dang TV "news" is radically altered by editing and CGI -
and nobody gets all excited about that.
