OOPS that was supposed to be 300 2.8. Anyway, the TC's really suck up lots of light. If the 1.4 fits the lens you want to use it on Nikon / Nikon than try it. But I have rarely been happy with the results (Canon) of a 2x on a zoom. However the 1.4 works great on my 70-200 2.8L and of course on the 400 2.8 L.
If you are trying to just get to 300mm then the best answer is a fixed 300. I am not well versed in Nikon stuff but the do have a good 300 mm f4 D, just a thought...

Hey Trevor,
You did not say which lenses you intend to use them on. For the 300 3.8, 400 2.8, they work great. If you intend to use them on a f4 or 5.6 zoom, don't bother. Yes you get more folcal length, but rarely will it be nice and sharp. The Kenko products are OK but again, you get what you pay for.
My suggestion is to rent the kit you want first and see if you like what you see and then decide.
Les

Am looking at teleconverters for my D200. Looking at the BH catalog, a local shop pretty much matches the Nikon, Sigma, and Tamron products. But the Kenko Pro-300 is about $50 less than BH charges, and I would have to wait for someone to bring it in their luggage. Is it worth pursuing?
