Job Description:
The Photography Department of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for a full-time position with a multi-year renewable contract in a non-tenure institution.
Begins: Fall, 2008. The successful applicant will be an experienced educator in photography and related media, and a working artist with a strong record of exhibitions and a demonstrated commitment to education. Administrative experience is required, as applicant must be capable of stepping into role as chairperson of MICA's photography department. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to
participate in departmental and institutional responsibilities such as advisement and committee service.
The Photography Department at MICA is a dynamic and well-established program with 6 committed full time faculty members and 125 majors. The facilities include comprehensive black and white, color, and digital laboratories, a shooting studio, and a wide array of camera equipment. The program is oriented toward photography as a fine art, with an additional emphasis on applied practice.
Requirements:
* Master of Fine Arts
* Minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience
* Experienced educator in photography and related media
* Strong record of professional excellence as demonstrated by a portfolio of professional work
* Strong knowledge of digital and traditional color processes
* Active interest and knowledge of theoretical and conceptual themes in photographic history
* Working knowledge of black and white darkroom facilities and cameras
* Experience with administration of an academic department or arts organization
* Successful Candidate will be required to complete Employment and Education Verifications.
Valued but not required:
* Minimum 5 years of full-time teaching experience
