Darn, that background isn't very pretty at all. Maybe it should be blown out a lot more?
well, I'm sorry I couldn't
get the Swallowtail to sit still long enough to hang some chintz
curtains.... * >)
I understand your point of view but actually I think the
background works fine with this picture...my eye goes right to the
butterfly and the background is just sort of inconsequential...to me,
the beautiful symmetry of the butterfly against the jumbled background
says there is indeed order in chaos.....and since nature photographers
have little or no control over where they find their subjects it's
often necessary to take what we can get...thanks for your
perspective

Black Swallowtail: A great close-up of a beautiful butterfly. I used to spend summers swimming in the American River in the Fair Oaks area, Jim. My parents lived in Folsom for many years. It's an area that is overbuilding (like all of California), but still beautiful.
thanks Marilyn...Folsom is,
unfortunately for them, still one of the few *affordable* places in
Northern California although that's changing too....my daughter and
grandkids moved there from Santa Rosa because they could no longer
afford to live there...at least Folsom has protected the area around
the American River...I appreciate your thoughts on my photo....

More reviews! We want more reviews! Anybody willing to write a review?!
didn't take long for the
enthusiasm for reviewing to melt away like an ice cream cone in
downtown Emporia Kansas at high noon in August....oh well, at least
this week my photo got twice as many reviews as the last one I
posted...
many thanks to both of you...
