The media today is one of the most corrupt and manipulative industries on the planet. It is guided almost entirely by self interest.
It's not NEWS it's SPIN
Einstein said “We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are"
We are the mercy of those in control of the media that manipulate our thinking. Not some photographer who photoshops out a lamppost.
It's typical of what the media does. They "EXPOSE" some trivial blemish on the moral landscape to divert attention from the fact that the whole landscape is actually painted on muslin.
In my photojournalism class I try to get the students to see that they have opinions and that they will never be neutral (If such a place exists.) A photograph is taken from a viewpoint and so all photographs are biased toward the photographer's sense of "Truth"
Rather than trying to find an unbiased photograph, they should be looking inwards and examining their own morality and sense of justice. Then they should get informed and make ethical assessments. To the extent they can instill this morality; their pictures will be good for mankind, even though they will still be biased.

Interesting comparison, Robert. I have to mull this over but I like
it. It may be that it just doesn't go far enough; it may encompass
more than just dodging and burning.
