it's been going on forever - pixies, ghosts.. all manner of nonsense being
added or taken from photos.

Eugene Smith jealously guarded his negs, for as a respected PJ it would
never have served his reputation to have been caught making photomontages
and representing them as single images.

I'm still giggling over the idea that *any* form of journalism
(particularly the non-picture content) can be righteously defined by a
media outlet as "an accurate representation of the truth"

after all, 'the media" are a bunch of businesses trying to sell stuff.
