Don't know about the D70 but on the Rebel you can disable this. It works fine for me. However, your other point is mostly valid. If you're starting from scratch its better to get a system designed to do what you want if you have the budget. If, on the other hand, your budget is tight and you already have a hotshoe flash with tilt head, you can get it to work quite easily. Greg > There is a problem with this too.
