Drop shadow on what? If you want the shadow on an entire layer just add a drop shadow layer style. If you want to create the shadow yourself then make a duplicate layer, move the duplicate below the original, set the brightness to -100 and the contrast to -100, apply a gaussian blur to the layer. Select the move tool and using the arrow keys (or mouse/tablet), move the shadow where you want it then adjust the layer opacity to suit.

However, if you use the layer style method, Photoshop can make sure all your shadows go in the same direction.
