I was expecting facts! it was a direct question(50 mm F1.8 vs 50mm F1.4)!
there are lens better than others- that's a Fact!
there are realitties that are comparable- that's also a Fact!
A good lesson in how to make people angry!
Both of your so called facts are only so in your own mind.#
Seriously, if you can't see that I'm not sure there's much hope for you.
Before you can decide which of something is "best" you need to decide on what criteria you are to judge them. It's not just photography, it's cars, holidays, computers, well, just about anything.
For lenses, testers try to set objective criteria, sharpness at centre, sharpness at edge, colour, contrast, distortion. All sorts of other things affect real-world decisions: weight, cost, reliability, build, feel, control of internal reflections ...
... and you want to know "Which is best?" . Period?
OK, which is best, a Ferrari or an SUV? - Answer 1) A mother with a big family to run to skool - Answer 2) A short balding middle-aged businessman ;o)
It depends is the answer.
