If you're giving photos to someone else, there would be a higher tendency for them to have a CD player on their PC as opposed to a DVD player. CD's are much more common right now, though the DVD market is getting larger. Just something to think about if you're burning photos for other people. I've been "burned" myself a few times for not asking first, lol.

the dye layer in DVD's and the reflective layer is laminated between TWO
layers of polycarbonate, given CD damage is most likely to occur to the
reflective layer through the unprotected backing, DVD construction offers a
LOT more protection
